YOGART STUDIO at the Art Gallery of Ontario. Relating our understanding of change, colour, and shape to one of Canada’s most influential artists, Norval Morrisseau. Click on the image for a detailed account of YOGART at the AGO.

YOGART STUDIO classes and workshops offer children an opportunity to learn through movement and creative expression. On average, YOGART classes are 60 minutes in length, divided into YOGA and ART. An emphasis on yoga, breathing, and relaxation is placed in the first half of class. Next, children are introduced to an artist, highlighting a specific style and/or application of visual arts. Children are encouraged to take risks and embrace the process of creating art over the final product. Discussion regarding personal sources of creativity and inspiration is encouraged amongst the children to further promote possibility thinking, communication, self-awareness, and respect and understanding of another person’s point of view. Workshops focus on a set of specific applications of visual art forms and how these techniques may be revised and revisited throughout an extended and planned art project.

YOGART STUDIO is a pop-up yoga+art studio. Check out YOGART STUDIO’s schedule for information and locations of classes/workshops that are currently being offered. For more information about YOGART STUDIO check out our mission :: vision :: values faq philosophy.

10/24/13 :: YOGART STUDIO was there to help cheer on, energize and style the undead for ivivva athletica‘s wildly successful Zombie Yoga event at Berkeley Church in Toronto. Over 100 girls between the ages of 4 and 14 took part in this death defying night filled with laughs, screams and a lot of undead ivivva girls making memories to last a lifetime…no seriously, it really was THAT amazing!

10/05/13 :: YOGART STUDIO attended the The 9th International conference on Holistic Learning: Breaking New Ground in Geneva Park Conference Centre  as a presenter. With the picturesque backdrop of Lake Simcoe blanketed by autumn, a connection with the natural world was immediately fused, bringing to life thoughts, experiences, performances and research on topics such as identity, meaningful connections, compassion and peace.

10/03/13 :: YOGART STUDIO was honoured to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Early Learning Centre at Ryerson University. YOGART STUDIO teamed up the kindergarteners to design and create a collaborative mural installation titled: The Blueprints of Learning. Using movement and mixed media, each week for 60 minutes children explored movement and their environment to “map” out how and where their learning takes place. A natural progression and development of movement and creativity was evident during this 4 week program. Blog post coming soon!

08/28/13 :: YOGART STUDIO rolled up the mat and headed to New York City to join Lil Yogi’s NYC to celebrate the end of summer with dozens of lil yogi families in Central Park. The morning was a huge success filled with yoga, art, music and plenty of laughs and smiles. For photos click here.
